Self-Archiving/Repository Policy
Journal of Shalamar Medical & Dental College (JSHMDC) does not accept or publish manuscripts that have been previously posted as preprints from 1st September, 2026.
- A preprint is defined as any version of a manuscript made publicly available prior to peer review, including postings on:
- Personal or institutional websites
- Public repositories or archives
- Social media or academic networking platforms
- Any manuscript found to have been previously posted as a preprint will be declined without peer review.
- Authors are advised to submit their work directly to the JSHMDC website without prior public dissemination.
- This preserves the integrity of JSHMDC's double-blind peer review policy, ensuring authors and reviewers cannot identify each other through publicly available versions.
- It ensures compliance with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan's similarity index requirements, as preprints can inflate similarity scores.
- It maintains the originality and exclusivity of content published in Shalamar Journal.
AUTHOR'S ACCEPTED MANUSCRIPT (AAM)
- The AAM is defined as the version of a manuscript accepted for publication after peer review but before copyediting, formatting, and final proofing.
- Public posting, sharing, or distribution of the AAM is not permitted prior to publication of the final Version on the JSHMDC website.
PUBLISHED ARTICLE
- The published article is the version that appears online or in print following peer review, copyediting, and typesetting.
- Authors retain the right to share and disseminate the published article without any embargo period, via any platform — including personal, professional, or academic websites, Google Scholar, LinkedIn, Academia.edu, ResearchGate, and X (Twitter).
- Authors should preferably include a link to the published version on the JSHMDC website.
